The latest Castellini autoclave doubles the ability to sterilize the instrument at SmilecClinic. Control of sterilization is done electronically, the autoclave having an automatic error reporting system. Each sterilization phase, starting with vacuuming, increasing the temperature to the nominal value, drying the instruments is done under electronic control, the information being provided in real time on the lcd display of the equipment.
The device also has control sensors for water used in the sterilization process. If any sterilization parameter is altered, the device blocks the instrument and informs the nurse, both optically and acoustically, that the sterilization should be resumed.
Under these conditions, the use of an instrument that was introduced into the autoclave was not ruled out but was not sterilized for various technical reasons after the nurse had left the room for sterilization.
