This page is general information, not a diagnosis, recommendation or provider quote. Porcelain veneers are thin restorations bonded to the visible surface of selected teeth. Suitability, material, tooth preparation, timetable and cost require a clinical assessment.

Questions before choosing veneers
Assessment should consider enamel, existing fillings, cracks, decay, gum health, the bite, grinding and the reason for the proposed cosmetic change. Whitening, orthodontics, composite bonding, an onlay, a crown or no treatment may preserve more healthy tooth tissue in some cases. Ask to compare reasonable alternatives before preparation.
Preview and preparation
Ask whether a diagnostic preview or mock-up is appropriate, how much tooth tissue is expected to be removed and whether temporary restorations would be needed. Removing enamel is irreversible. A remote image cannot confirm how much preparation a tooth needs, and a website cannot promise a particular smile result.
What the estimate should include
- The tooth or teeth, proposed material and laboratory
- Examination, imaging, preview, preparation, temporaries, try-in and bonding
- Any whitening, gum treatment or protective appliance proposed separately
- The treating clinician and verifiable registration and qualifications
- Aftercare, maintenance, complaint route and any provider warranty terms
Timing and maintenance
Appointments depend on the number of teeth, any preliminary treatment, preparation, laboratory availability and clinical review. Obtain a written schedule before travel and allow for change after examination. Veneers can chip, debond, wear or need replacement, while the natural tooth can still develop decay or gum problems.
Can veneers correct crowded teeth?
Veneers may disguise a small shape difference, but they do not move tooth roots or correct the underlying bite. Orthodontic treatment may preserve more healthy tooth tissue when movement is needed.
Can porcelain be whitened later?
Whitening gel changes natural tooth tissue but does not lighten porcelain, crowns or fillings. If whitening is part of a plan, the sequence and final shade should be discussed before veneers are made.
